A stunning Giclee print of an Artichoke in full flower. Iona originally trained as a botanical illustrator and it shows here is the painstaking attention to detail and a design wihich includes a cut-away illustration showing the internal structure of an artichoke.
The Latin name Cynara scolymus means dog tooth thistle.
As the print makes obvious, artichokes are members of the thistle family, but the flowers are rarely seen because the artichoke is harvested before it blooms. But artichoke flowers are sold in flower shops in parts of France - and we can see why.
Each print is individually signed by Iona and printed on archival quality paper with fade resistant inks.
